Fashion Talks London Event 2016

Our fashion consumption habits knows no bounds. Is it because we avoid talking about those 'taboo' topics like how ethical the manufacturing process really is or how the industry actually sell their products to us?

Fashion Talks London 2016 aims to cover some of these topics. The one day event taking place on the 20th October 2016 will cover the following topics:

  • New models (XL, older and gender fluid)
  • Sustainable fashion
  • Brexit and fashion

Fashion Conscience

I'm proud to announce my involvement in this project. When I was a master's student at the London College of Fashion, I discovered that there was a lack of events covering these 'real' topics. Having a fashion conscience is hard when you are also fashion conscious. I realised though that the elephant in the room needs to be addressed so we that we can finally influence the industry in the right direction.

As part of the event, there will be a textile recycling point where participants are invited to bring unwanted clothes to be recycled. We are also thrilled to have Smart Works, a leader in the area of sustainability in fashion, present on the day. Smart Works provide high quality interview clothes, styling advice and interview training to out-of-work women on low incomes, helping them to feel confident, look fabulous, succeed at their job interview and move on with their life.
