Last year for my birthday, my brother had bought me a sewing machine - my first Singer. Since then I've been steadily building a stock pile of fabric of all textures and styles just in case I felt the sudden urge to create something wearable. Last week that urge hit and rummaging through my mound of textiles I found a black crimped tulle that I had purchased on sale months back. It's now winter in Australia so I wanted to make something that I could wear out on a cooler day but being that tulle is such a fun textural fabric I wanted to create something that was also fun and playful.

After surfing the web for quite some time I found this youtube tutorial on how to make a full gathered skirt. Using this as a guide and adjusting the length to suit my concept I ended up creating a midi skirt that was comfortable and flirty.

I teamed my black tulle midi skirt with a bright yellow knitted jumper to add a bit of colour to my outfit, cinched my waist in with a tan leather belt and popped on a pair of brown leather ankle boots with zipper trim to complete my look. I was ready for a picnic in the park!
